In RPG MO, Events are seasonal occurrences celebrating the world's major holidays. They are usually tied to any updates in the game. RPG MO has five major events: Christmas, Valentines, Easter, Anniversary, and Halloween, each coming with new, themed items.
Historically, there have been some St. Patrick events, but those have not been continued.
In addition to Events, there are regular sales thrice a year: Summer Sale, Back to School Sale, and Black Friday Sale.
Events Overview[]
Each event, while each different in volume of items and ease of acquiring them, usually has these features.
MOS Store Sale[]
All 5 events have a 20% on items in the MOS store. This is a not a sale on buying MOS itself with real life money.
Lucky Tickets[]
Lucky Tickets are tradeable items that give players a chance to get old event items.
To encourage players to buy MOS (only possible with real money) and to thank them, during events every 500 MOS purchased comes with a Lucky Ticket. Lucky Tickets are scratch tickets: if you get three of the same symbol (in this case the symbol will be various in-game items or coins) you win the item. Lucky Ticket rewards are picked from a pool of Event items of the same event the ticket was opened during. (Ex. If you use a Lucky Ticket after the Easter event starts and before the Anniversary event starts, the rewards will be picked from a pool of previous Easter event items, as well as some filler items) The list of possible rewards is shown in the Patch Notes of the Event.
Scavenger Hunts[]
Every hour there is a scavenger hunt. The game chooses a random map (from a certain selection, in general Dorpat and end game maps are not included), and announces 20 minutes in advance where it will be. If you are in the map by that time, you will receive a message with the coordinates of a loot crate, which will contain a single new event item.
Gathering[]
During events, some event items will be added to the start of the drop table for almost all gathering nodes at a very low drop rate. Usually, this will be an event material, which can be used to make event themed decorations for the Player Island, and an item unique to the gathering skill (mining, fishing, woodcutting). The rate for the material, while it can change, is usually .2% chance, and the unique item is much rarer, around .01%-.02% (that is 1 in every 5k-10k attempts).
Sand is usually a special case, either not having any event item or having an item only available from the sand. This can cause sand to completely ignored throughout the event or be the main focus of the event.
Mob Farming[]
One of the oldest features of Events, mobs will have one or two event items at the end of their drop table. (This causes mobs with longer loot lists to have a lower chance to drop event items) In recent MO history, all mobs have been divided into two groups, with one group dropping one or two new event items and the other dropping different ones, to encourage farming different mobs.
Note that these drops can be rewards for Kill Quests.
Boss Hunting[]
Starting with the 2025 Valentines Event, some events have had a roaming Boss that can spawn in specific maps that is used in conjunction with the Monster Book feature. It usually has a rather expensive sacrifice in exchange for a guaranteed chance of the Boss dropping a pet version of itself.
During the Easter event (and only the Easter Event), Easter Bunny Bosses and Easter Egg Bosses spawn on most maps. Killing them gives Easter Eggs, which work like presents.
An additional thing to note is that there was a roaming [Rare] Pinata that dropped itself (as an Island Cabinet) and presents in 2019, well before the Monster Book was added.
Limited-time MOS Item(s)[]
Every event there is a new MOS item, which could be an outfit, a pet, or some unique item. Their price can vary, but outfits are usually around 600 MOS. (Thanks to the 20% sale in the MOS store, during the event it would cost 540 MOS) Any Limited-time MOS item will stay in the MOS Market until the end of the next event. (Note that it will not be on sale in the time between events)
New Items (in general)[]
- Outfits/: Outfits never have meaningful stats, and thus are cosmetic only, which requires the Armor Stand to be used. Sometimes the outfit pieces can be enchanted, or even enchanted repeatedly to get an fancier look (+3 items are almost always animated). All base outfit pieces can be combined (with one of each kind) into a box at the anvil to save space.
- Weapons: Weapons can have useful stats, but usually are only useful to lower level players, and are thus mostly cosmetic. (Again, requiring the use of an Armor Stand) Like armor, they can sometimes be enchanted once or three times.
- Pets: Pets always have some kind of stats. They are usually designed to be useful to new players with high speed and inventory space. Occasionally they can be game changing to all players, giving a stat that previously was not on any pet. Some pets only have their base form, but generally they can be leveled to be upgraded in both stats and appearance.
- Hats: While usually having no stats, there are some, namely Party Hats, that have stats on them found on no other hats, making them preferred by many players attempting a pure build, since the Party Hats have no defense requirement to wear them.
Money Making Opportunities[]
All of the event items added each event go through serious price fluctuations, giving an industrious player a very good opportunity to make some serious cash. The price of event items is completely based on how much players like the item, with pets usually valued higher than weapons and armor.
Yearly MOS Sales[]
The numbers here are all based on past sales, they could be changed any year.
Summer Sale[]
20% Sale, usually starts late June and goes to early/mid July.
Back to School Sale[]
25% Sale, usually takes place late August.
Black Friday Sale[]
40% Sale, always on Black Friday (the day after US Thanksgiving, late November) and only lasts 2-3 days.
